Bulldogs Add Coach Dan Wordsworth to Their Ranks

Bury St. Edmunds Basketball Club are delighted to announce the appointment of Daniel Wordsworth as Head Coach of the U14 Boys side for the 2020/21 season.

Coach Wordsworth was formerly a member of the Ipswich Basketball Academy, and represented the club as a player and Coach at Junior National League before taking a break from coaching a couple of seasons ago.

"Getting Dan on-board is another massive step forwards for our club." said Head Coach Arron MacDonald. "He's someone who was coaching at Ipswich alongside Hayley and myself, so he's someone we know well, and after a little while out of the sport we knew that he was looking for an opportunity to get involved again. With Hayley and I having met with Dan post-lockdown and discussed our plans for the club, it was clear to us that he would be a perfect fit, and we're ecstatic that he's accepted our invitation to become a Bulldog."

"Having been out of coaching for a couple of years, I was really starting to miss it!" said Coach Wordsworth. "Not only the basketball itself, but also the community of people it brings together. There are no doubts in my mind that I will find what I’ve been looking for with the Bulldogs."

"After playing basketball at different levels for many years, as well as coaching at Ipswich and Suffolk with some great coaches; I hope to bring that knowledge, experience and love of the game to Bury St. Edmunds Basketball Club. I’m really looking forward to getting back into coaching again with a fantastic club and hit the ground running."

The club are still looking for a few more volunteers for the coming season, with coaching vacancies for the Get Back Into Basketball session, and the Under 18's Men's side who will compete in the NYBL. If you are a qualified coach, or a willing volunteer, and would be interested in joining the club, please get in touch.
